After seeing newer videos of the air show I thought I would put one up from years ago, from my Sony Hi8 video camera.

Camping at the fly-in is just about as fun as the fly-in itself. You get to get away from your daily life, and go back to the way things were meant to be, camping with the constant sound of airplanes. My camper is a 1978 Dodge hi-top class B motor home van, and I still have it today, with over 300,000 miles on it.

I had my bicycle with me that year, in later years I brought my Honda 80 Bike Passport scooter, and after that, my Honda 250 Rebel. As you see in this video I also take pics of bikes as well as planes.

I favor the classic 1950’s and newer single engine planes, and do have my private pilots license, got it in 1971, but do not fly now as the cost is way to much.

But I spend most of my time going to watch the ultralights, or some call them microlights, microlites or ultralites.

The ultralight area at the airport is called Paradise City. It has its own grass strip away from the main paved runways, and there can be as many as 250 planes there.

There are many different types of planes there, a real creative lot, powered parachute planes or PPG, hang gliders, hang gliders with motors, regular gliders, pushers, pullers, high wing, low wing, open cockpit, closed cockpits, biplanes, amphibious sea planes, you name it, they all converge here once a year.

I invite you to leave a comment, and am asking others who have such videos, to post them on YouTube, as it is so much fun to see other peoples videos from the various airshows from all over. The best ones I like are not too edited, and without background music, as many viewers comments that I have read on these are that they wished they could hear the planes more, and no music.

I am particularly interested in the Sun ‘n Fun, and if anyone could go ‘hang out’ one day at Dart Field in Hartfield Western New York, near Mayville NY and Chautauqua Lake, on a Sunday afternoon, and just takes videos of what is going on there and post them to YouTube so we all can see them. I used to live there and miss it a lot. They have many gliders there, and a cute little restaurant only open in the summer on weekends and also a flea market is there.
